Abstract

In Brazil, in the decades of 1990 and 2000, there was a phenomenon never before observed of interest of private companies in history and memory. Several companies now create documentation centers, memorials and museums, experiencing a real “boom” of memory and heritage in private means. In this paper, we propose to analyze this historical phenomenon from the publications produced by some of the largest private companies that have invested in the construction and dissemination of a version of his past and his identity. We propose to analyze the interests that guide the choices made by these companies and the social practices that intend to generate.
