The Presence of Oil in the United States: The Hydrocarbon in the History of a Great Power

The purpose of this essay is to present a simple balance of oil in the recent history of the United States. This relevant energy resource is not disconnected with the history of the main international power. To analyze the history of oil is to get back to the understanding of the United States since the second half of the 19th century till the 1990s, when there was no other power strong enough to contest US power.
