Abstract

The debate on the national identity assumed crucial role in the workmanship of Mário de Andrade and the objective of the text is to define which lines of direction such debate follows in its thought, relating it with the quarrel on tradition and modernity that also meets present there for, from there, to study the projects created by the author with the impasses in which it becomes involved itself well.
