Os historiadores e as florestas: dez anos depois de A ferro e fogo
Abstract
In 1995, it was edited in the United States of America With Broadax and Firebrand: The destruction of the Brazilian Atlantic Forest, by Warren Dean. This book was considered by some as "model" to be followed of environmental history in latin-América at that time, ans more specifically of a "forest history". However, ten years later, there heve been no work that followed Dean's, following his ideas, but other works by historians which dealt with Brazilian forest came out. In this article, I aim to evaluate the proposal of a history of forest made by Dean, in the light of more recent works and also of the criticism on this work.Downloads
