Abstract

The 1960s and 1970s witnessed a growing concern with the prospects of a population boom. Catering to a wide readership, the Reader's Digest magazine adopted and spread a pessimistic discourse favoring population control that linked the threat of overpopulation to the communist expansion. The purpouse of this article is to analize the magazine's engagement in this campaing for the population control.
