Itajaí: o início do século na cidade da Marejada
Abstract
This article attempts to map some cultural elemnts in the city of Itajaí at the beginning of this century. Through the newspaper published in the city at that time, it wold be possible to understand the sociability pratices which were employed, as well as the struggle for participation in the public field. Both, immgrants and Portuguese-Brazilians, shaped a local elite strongly articulated. These data are apposed to the idea of an exclusively Azorean cultural heritage, as proclaimed by the Marejada Festival.
