Resumo

O objetivo do artigo é examinar o ensaio de Isaiah Berlin, “Two Concepts of Liberty”, que teve um papel proeminente na difusão da distinção entre liberdade negativa e liberdade positiva, tornando-se uma referência fundamental no debate político sobre a liberdade no final do século passado. Pretende investigar a origem da oposição estabelecida, avaliar as possíveis objeções e discutir as suas implicações na teoria política contemporânea.
