Modelagem com alunos surdos: mãos que fazem, mãos que falam

Este artigo tem por objetivo descrever as atividades desenvolvidas durante o projeto de extensão da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC), intitulado “Modelagem para Alunos Surdos”, realizado no período de julho a dezembro de 2006. O projeto tem o apoio da Pró-Reitoria de Pesquisa e Extensão da UFSC (PRPE-UFSC), e foi executado com o intento de realizar oficinas gratuitas para alunos surdos de diversas instituições da região da grande Florianópolis (SC), abordando técnicas de modelagem (em papel e argila), a fim de instigar e desenvolver a criatividade, habilidade manual e a concentração dos alunos. Além disso, procurou-se também explorar estas atividades como uma forma de recreação e ainda de possibilitar uma nova fonte de renda para os alunos.
