Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Extensio accepts original manuscripts in the following formats:

Articles: Original texts resulting from research (bibliographic, documentary, experimental, etc.), highlighting theoretical foundations, methodological procedures, and results (descriptive or analytical) – maximum 20 pages.

Essays: Original opinion-based texts that develop conceptual and methodological issues related to university extension in a reflective and discursive manner – maximum 20 pages.

Dossier: A set of relevant documents related to a specific topic, institution, or individual in the field of Extension – maximum 20 pages.

Reviews: Critical or informative assessments of books, dissertations, theses, and media relevant to Extension, published within the last 5 years – maximum 3 pages.

Interviews: Dialogues between two or more individuals aimed at disseminating or clarifying ideas, actions, or plans.

Experience Reports: Original texts describing and/or discussing experiences developed in the thematic areas of university extension – maximum 15 pages.

The journal may invite renowned authors and specialists for publication. Submissions of Articles, Essays, and Reviews may also be selected based on the author’s expertise and relevant contributions. Invitations are issued directly by the editorial team.

Editorial Guidelines

The Editorial Board of Extensio establishes the following guidelines:

Submissions that do not comply with all criteria below will be archived.

  1. Manuscripts may be submitted in Portuguese, Spanish, or English;
  2. Portuguese texts must follow ABNT standards and the journal template. Other languages must follow equivalent ISO standards (excluding authorship information), maintaining the journal template;
  3. Submissions must be made through the SEER platform;
  4. Formatting: 1.5 line spacing, font size 12, Garamond, A4 page, paragraph indentation, file format .doc or .docx. Include spacing between title versions (Portuguese, English, Spanish) and between sections;
  5. The first page must include title (Portuguese, English, Spanish), abstracts (100–150 words), and keywords (3–5, separated by semicolons) in all three languages;
  6. In-text citations must follow ABNT standards;
  7. References must follow ABNT standards;
  8. Use of images, tables, figures, etc., should be limited. Images of individuals require signed image authorization (e.g., gov.br digital signature), submitted as a supplementary file;
  9. Acknowledgments may be included before references;
  10. Co-authorship: maximum of six (6) authors. All authors must be registered in the metadata with academic degree, affiliation, and department;
  11. At least one author must hold a doctoral degree;
  12. Authors may not publish in the same or subsequent issue;
  13. Authorship changes after submission are not allowed;
  14. Manuscripts must not be paginated;
  15. Research involving human subjects must include Ethics Committee approval and reference number;
  16. Submissions must follow the article template available at this link;
  17. The authorship contribution statement, available at this link, must be signed (digitally, e.g., gov.br) and submitted as a supplementary file.

Authors are encouraged to follow the editorial workflow and keep their email updated to ensure communication with the editor and successful publication.
