Environmental education through waste tire reuse in the municipality of Arenápolis - MT

This paper presents three extension experiments conducted in the Municipality of Arenápolis (MT), in the Rondon Project (Bororos Operation), between 10-26 July 2015. The main objective of these activities was to build a participatory process in the local community as structuring and consolidating element of critical environmental education focused on valuing population as an identifier agent of problems and solutions. To this end, training workshops on reuse of tires were developed focusing on horticulture, furniture production and construction of a school playground that demonstrated the importance and the strength of processes that combine technical knowledge with popular knowledge. The workshops described in this paper contributed to propagate the concept of local belonging and to enhance the humanities learning, drivers of sustainable development for future generations.Downloads
