Archive of Faculty of Law of Recife: preservation and access through university extension

This work aims to present a synthesis of activities and goals of the university extension project “Preservando a Memória da Faculdade de Direito do Recife: acesso ao Arquivo Histórico”, executed at Faculty of Law of Recife, Federal University of Pernambuco, between april and december 2018. The article presents the conception and development of the project as the configuration of participation in cultural life as a human right, constituting the university extension as a privileged opportunity to promote it, by integrating efforts of the academic community and the whole society in the preservation. and democratization of access to cultural goods. In this sense, the materials and methods observed during the execution of the project at UFPE are also described. The goals show the contribution of university extension to the conservation of the collection and also to the democratization of data and information through the digitization, description and subsequent publication of documents in digital media.
