When it comes to basic sanitation and distribution of water within the potability standards required by Ordinance No. 888 of December 4, 2021, rural communities and regions still face great difficulties in gaining access to these rights, which are often unknown even by the population itself. The realization of educational projects and actions that aim to minimize this problem is one way to intervene to reduce the scenario of people who do not have access to good quality water and the minimum of basic sanitation. Thus, this report is the result of an extension project developed by students and researchers at the Federal University of Campina Grande with the aim of helping to promote health and quality of life for members of the community of Catolé de Boa Vista, district of Campina Grande. Water samples from some houses of the population showed the presence of coliforms, confirming the need for guidance in the region regarding the treatment and correct handling of water. Workshops were held with students from the State School of Elementary and Secondary Education Rubens Dutra II, located in the central region of the community, who showed a high level of satisfaction and knowledge acquired regarding the addressed topic.
