The experience of the extension curricularization process at the Federal University of Tocantins: the necessary texture between extension, research and teaching

Abstract

This work presents the experience of extension curriculum at the Federal University of Tocantins (UFT). The National Education Plan, PNE 2014-2024, recommends, among its strategies, the payment of at least 10% of the total curricular credits of undergraduate courses arising from extension. These credits must be offered through extension projects and programs, preferably in areas of social relevance. Extension is understood as a primordial pillar along with teaching and research for the students' training process and the transforming relationship between the university and society. The methodology of this study was based on a documentary research with a qualitative approach. The extension curricularization process at UFT advanced towards the epistemological understanding of university extension, due to the actions carried out with vehemence by the management of the Pro-Rectory of Extension, Culture and Community Affairs (PROEX). Currently, 50% of the pedagogical projects of undergraduate courses at UFT have already been analyzed and the postgraduate resolutions have been changed, inserting the extension into Lato and Stricto Sensu.

Maria Santana Ferreira dos Santos Milhomem, Universidade Federal do Tocantins

Doutora em Educação pela Universidade de Brasília (2018). Mestre em Educação pela Universidade Federal de Sergipe. Atualmente é Professora Adjunta III do Curso de Direito e Pró reitora de Extensão Cultura e Assuntos Comunitários da Universidade Federal do Tocantins de 2016 até a presente data. Coordenou o FORPROEX Região Norte 2019 a 2021.
