Los esfuerzos para modernizar el arsenal nuclear chino: balanceo interno y transformación en el sistema internacional contemporáneo

El artículo tiene como objetivo analizar las inversiones chinas en su arsenal nuclear en los años que siguieron al final de la Guerra Fría. Se argumenta que los esfuerzos por modernizar las armas nucleares chinas son parte de un proceso de "balanceo interno" emprendido por China en contra los Estados Unidos de América. Para desarrollar este argumento, la primera sección de este artículo presenta algunas consideraciones sobre el fenómeno del “balanceo interno”, aclarando su base conceptual-teórica. A continuación, se realiza una breve revisión histórica del programa nuclear chino durante la Guerra Fría. Finalmente, los esfuerzos contemporáneos para modernizar los arsenales nucleares chinos serán evaluados a la luz del modelo teórico que apoya la verificación empírica del fenómeno del balanceo interno.
