Abstract

This experiment was conducted in Horto Botanico-UFSC in 1982 to verify the effect of pre-germination treatments and sowing system on planting stock of timbauva (Enterolobium contortisiliquum (Vellozo) Morong). The treatments utilized were: control, concentrated sulphuric acid for 60 minutes; manual scarification and etanol for 120 minutes. The sowing systhem were: direct sowing in plastic bags and transplantation. The results showed that the pre germination treatments increased seed germination independently of sowing system. The means of germination were 90% for concentrated sulphuric acid and 85% for manual scarification. The qualitative parameters of plantig stocks were affected by sowing system and the direct sowing in plastic bags showed seedling with means of 34,2 cm in height and 0,55 cm in collar diameter, 77 days after sowing. Similar characteristics for transplantation system only were obtained 105 days after sowing.
