The Podostemaceae family in amazonian rivers and insect community associated

Abstract

The aquatic macrophytes of the family Podostemaceae form a complex biotype in Amazonian rivers. The different species live in waterfalls and rapids and the most important factor to life this plants is the leveI of the water, velocity and oxygen saturation. Nine Podostemaceae species were collected distributed to four genera which were identified and analyzed to evaluate the persistency of the insect community associated. They were identified 26 farnilies ofaquatic insects distributed among nine orders.
