Abstract

Domatia of the 'in cavity' type, with wide opening and pilous margins in the axils of the secundary veins and the midvein, are found in the abaxial face of the leaves in Ocotea tristis, O. pulchella e O. diospyrifolia. Domatia regions suffer changes, comparing with no domatia regions: morphologic reduction and alteration of the mesophyll cells, alteration in the size of the epidermal cells, with modified anticlinal walls and absence of stomata.
