Abstract

A taxonomic study of the periphitic diatoms of two field stations in the lagoa Tarumã, Ponta Grossa, was made to contribute to the knowledge ofthe diatomflorula of the State of Paraná, Brazil. Twenty-six samples were analysed, colleted monthly from October 1993 to October 1994. The analysis allowed identification of 30 specific and infra-specific taxons, belonging to 10 families and 13 genera, and 1 taxon was identified to generic leveI. Pinnularia intermedia (Lagerst) Cleve is a new record for Paraná State. Reference to literature cited, morphological description, geographical distribution in Paraná State and comments on taxonomic and nomenclatural problems are presented for each species. An artificial key to the genera, species, and varietes is also provided. Ilustrations of ali species are presented; Light and Scanning Electron Micrographs are also provided for selected species.
