Abstract

An historical review about fungi in the Santa Catarina State (South-Brazil), with emphasis in wood-inhabiting polypores (Aphyllophorales) is presented. This review inclues the first contribution of Adalberto de Chamisso in 1815, besides two contemporaneous surveys (Furlani, 1988; Loguercio Leite, 1990) from Santa Catarina Island.
