Mr. Da Costa against the Gallic faction in Brazil

This work intends to investigate, from the confrontation and systematization of the main issues, proposals and arguments used in Correio Braziliense, the central notions policies in the first four volumes of the newspaper (1808-1810). The doctrine of the Correio, whose character is essentially practical, intended in first place to guide the occupation of Brazil by the Portuguese Court, which was mister join national efforts around the common ideal of forging a national state. Thus, urged the newspaper to combat the contrary trends to this proposal, the parties, and emphasize the positive, patriotic and liberal ideas. The identification of the Correio principal arguments, in general descendants of pombalino though, will show two main policy strands, one French and one English, analyzed each of them more deeply.Downloads
