Jornalismo, espaço de disputas de hegemonia

Abstract

 

Este artigo – baseado em tese de doutorado do autor, defendida em 2005 na PUC-SP – analisa a cobertura que dois grandes jornais paulistas, a Folha de S. Paulo e O Estado de S. Paulo, fizeram, em 2003, dos encontros do Fórum Social Mundial, em Porto Alegre, e do Fórum Econômico Mundial, em Davos. Duas concepções de mundo distintas se apresentavam: uma, ligada às principais instâncias da economia capitalista; outra, crítica da atual ordem, propõe “um outro mundo possível”. E conclui que o jornal e o jornalismo contemporâneos, para serem adequadamente interpretados, devem ser vistos como um Aparelho Privado de Hegemonia, locus aonde se processa uma disputa entre diferentes concepções de mundo.
