Broadcasting News or Journalism for screens: the proposal of a field of studies

Abstract

The article systematizes the results of different research regarding television news, carried out since 2012 within the scope of the Graduate Program in Journalism of the Federal University of Santa Catarina. Specifically, it develops operational concepts for the field, in addition to suggesting a framework of analysis for broascast news, based on Discursive Semiotics postulated by Algirdas Julien Greimas. To do so, it reviews the results of research undertaken by the author during the last five years while also exploring studies on multi-screen TV journalism.
