Abstract

This article proposes to verify elements in the thesis De Relationibus Novellis (The Journalistic Reports), by the german Tobias Peucer (1690), that can be considered a current discussion about journalism. In order to identify the possibility of situating these components today the Post-Industrial Journalism: Adapting to the new times (2012) dossier will be used as a reference, which presents a diagnosis of the crisis in the activity. Although more than 300 years separate these two texts, there are common matters, such as the definition of what is news, the role of journalists and market issues. Although there are new concerns today, from the business aspect and the relationship with technology, the essence of journalism still needs to be discussed.
