About the Journal

Brief Background

Revista katálysis, created in 1997 and published uninterruptedly since then is edited by the Postgraduate Program is Social Work and the Undergraduate Course in Social Work at the Federal University of Santa Catarina. It has an A1 classification by Qualis/Capes. Its objectiveis to publish scientific productions relevant to Social Work and topics in related areas that cover teaching, research and extension and professional practice. Through original scientific articles, it seeks to cover themes from the human and social sciences and their relationships with other fields of knowledge. The magazine is a refereed, indexed periodical with national and international circulation.

 

Peer Review Process

The manuscript submitted for publication will only be sent to an external reviewer after being approved in a previous analysis by members of the Editorial Committee, in which the following will be observed: adequacy to the objectives and editorial policy Revista Katálysis, format of presentation of articles and potential for publication.

 The Katálysis Magazine's criteria for accepting articles include: originality, data validity, clarity of writing, repercussions of the conclusions and scientific contribution to Social Work and related areas. Each manuscript is evaluated by two external reviewers who will make specific and general comments regarding the scientific merit of the work and will arbitrate on acceptance, rejection and may suggest reformulations. During the analysis, rigor, clarity and precision regarding scientific production, writing, methodological description, content and ethical-theoretical probity will be verified. Any changes in structure and content will be forwarded to the authors. Additions or alterations to the text will not be allowed after their evaluation and final acceptance.

 The Editors and the Editorial Commission, in possession of the analyzes of the referees, will make the final decision based on the editorial program of the Magazine. In case of discrepancies between the referees, a third opinion may be requested. The Editors will forward the final decision to the responsible author, via the Portal of the Journals Portal.

 The Editorial Committee ensures anonymity for the author (s) in the evaluation process, as well as assures the reviewers of the confidentiality of their participation, allowing freedom for judgments and evaluations.

 Writing / Style - The spelling, standards and style revisions of Revista Katálysis complete the evaluation process.

Revista Katálysis offers free and immediate access to its content, following the principle that making scientific knowledge freely available to the public provides greater socialization and democratization of knowledge. All content in this journal, except where otherwise noted, is licensed under a Creative Commons License

Evaluation Quali-Capes

The Brazilian evaluation system Qualis-Capes analyzed Revista Katálysis with its best classification score A1 in the area of concentration Social Service and B1 in Sociology. The magazine acquired this stratum in 2010 and remains in 2020 with the same classification. Other areas evaluated the magazine and can be consulted on the Qualis Platform

SciELO Statistics - Displays data on downloads, accesses, views of visiting articles from other countries and author affiliation. Redalyc Statistics - Displays publication, authorship and download data. Google Scholar - Displays the most cited articles and relates to the sources that cited the article.

The publisher's ethics and best practices policy

To researchers, authors, editors and peer reviewers, in addition to ethical precepts, conduct norms are applied that derive from the specific purpose of their profession: the creation, dissemination and collective appropriation of science. These norms define the ethical integrity of scientific activities and can be deduced from a fundamental principle: every scientist should exercise their profession in the most appropriate manner so that the advancement and socialization of science results publicly.

The Katalysis Journal editors are convinced that the combined efforts of researchers, research institutions, authors, editors and peer reviewers will succeed in maintaining the dissemination of scientific research in accordance with the standards of ethical integrity. The policy of ethics and best practices in the production and publication of the Katalysis Journal should consider:

Katálysis Journal upholds the standards of publication ethics and adopts all possible measures in the publication process. We understand that the guidelines recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics - COPE (http://publicationethics.org/) should guide the standards of conduct of all parties involved in the act of publication: the author and the editorial staff of the journal. For authors, in addition to the requirements included in the submission process, we request the following:

Ethics regarding research involving human subjects

All manuscripts resulting from research or testimonies that involve human subjects or restricted access information must inform the approval number of the research ethics committee in the text, indicating its compliance with national and international resolutions that regulate these issues. The text that does not comply with these requirements will not be evaluated in the Journal and its submission will be rejected. 

Incorrections in published work

When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his or her own published work, it is his or her obligation to inform the journal's editor immediately and to cooperate with the editor to make amends or correct the article.

Objectivity in assessment

The reviewers' reports will be carried out objectively. Peer reviewers should express their opinions clearly, supported by scientific arguments.

Source Credit

Peer reviewers should identify any relevant, previously published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any assertion that an observation or argument has already been published should be accompanied by the corresponding citation. The reviewer should also bring to the editor's attention any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript in question and any other published paper of which he or she has personal knowledge. 

Antiplagiarism Policy

The unpublished papers will be reviewed using an anti-plagiarism tool (iThenticate).

Before being sent to the Editorial Board, external reviewers or at any time during the editorial process, the articles submitted to Katálysis will be checked by software to identify plagiarism and/or self-plagiarism. The authors must guarantee the originality of the manuscripts and if they use articles by other authors, they must be properly cited. Plagiarism, or self-plagiarism, in all its forms, is unacceptable. Thus, it is possible that the authors might be queried during the evaluation process of the submitted work, regarding the indications pointed out by the software used. If plagiarism is indeed proven, the manuscript will be returned to the author.

Support Sources

Revista Katálysis is a scientific journal totally maintained with public resources and exhibited for keeping its periodicity strictly up to date. It has, in recent years, albeit on a non-regular basis, received support from funding agencies (CNPq and Capes). These years of the Journal were only possible with the institutional support of UFSC, the Socioeconomic Center, the Department of Social Service and the Foundation for Socioeconomic Studies and Research - FEPESE.

Journal History

Revista Katálysis is a scientific journal created in 1997, with semiannual periodicity. Until 2015, as publications were semiannual and uninterrupted. The magazine was born even before the Department of Social Service of the Federal University of Santa Catarina created its Graduate Program in 1999. It was indexed in the Scientific Electronic Library Online - SciELO - in 2007.

 Received since the base year of 2008, by the Capes / Qualis Evaluation and Qualification System, classification A1 in the area of Social Work [1]; and currently A2 in Environmental and Interdisciplinary Sciences; B1 in Applied Social Sciences I, Education, Urban and Regional Planning / Demography, Psychology, Sociology; B2 in Economics, Philosophy / Theology, History, Public Health.

 

Revista Katálysis has its own internal regulations, or allows the constitution of a specific and autonomous collegiate body for undergraduate and graduate courses in Social Work, which maintains its sustainability. Therefore, if the historical point of view, distinguishes itself from its pioneering spirit, or from its professionalism, an Area Reference Magazine is consolidated, or that it is only possible due to the recognition of authors in their rigor, seriousness and quality, in the definition of guidelines and dissemination of knowledge production. At these points, the differentials between Revista Katálysis and other periodicals in the area are supported.

 It is important to highlight that in 2013, with the financial support of CNPq, it produced and published a special issue such as "Social Work, History and Challenges", continuing a little of the profession's trajectory and currentness.

 Revista Katálysis has ISSN number 1982-0259 for its digital version as of edition v. 8 n. 1 2005. ISSN number 1414-4980 in its printed version was up to edition v. 18, n. 1 2015. ISSN is a numeric code that identifies a unique identifier for each serial publication title. An ISSN network is an intergovernmental institution, created in 1971, coordinated by the ISSN International Center, located in Paris, which acts as a support agency and creator of international standards related to important publications. The Brazilian Institute of Information in Science and Technology (IBICT) promotes and regulates the ISSN with an editorial community.
