This paper focuses on reflecting on the impact of neo-extractivism in Argentine Norpatagonia on the gender-based violence experienced by women living in rural areas of this region. To this end, a brief description of the territory in question is presented. The particular nature of situations of violence in these localities is characterized, with an emphasis on the approaches available from social policy. Finally, the conflicts and challenges related to social work and the dispute over public policies are summarized. The discussions come from the connection between specialized literature on the topic and personal experiences, produced in the context of professional involvement in a public service that deals with violence linked to the Government of the Province of Río Negro. Based on a totality and intersectionality perspective, it is asserted that addressing situations of gender violence requires consideration of socio-historical and geographical contexts, in addition to individual biographies.
