Abstract

Originally published in French in 2022 by Éditions Le Retrait, Marx, esse desconhecido (Marx, the Unknown) by Brazilian Marxist social scientist Michel Löwy was translated by Fábio Mascaro and published by Boitempo the following year. Before discussing the work, it is worth noting the beauty of its graphic design, such as the cover featuring Marx's bust filled with clippings from his manuscripts and overlays of his own face, giving the composition a cubist and new wave look, as well as the exuberant frontispiece by Guy Girard, depicting a scene in which Löwy offers Marx the black sun of melancholy. Part of the Armas da Crítica collection, the book has a dozen chapters and is divided into two parts: Explorations; Revolutions.

Glauber Lopes Xavier, Universidade Estadual de Goiás

Economista. Doutor em Sociologia pela Universidade Federal de Goiás. Realizou estágio pós-doutoral em Ciências Sociais, Desenvolvimento, Agricultura e Sociedade pela Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro (CPDA/UFRRJ). Professor efetivo da Universidade Estadual de Goiás, atuando no curso de Ciências Econômicas e no Mestrado Interdisciplinar em Territórios e Expressões Culturais no Cerrado (TECCER). Conduz pesquisas a partir das seguintes temáticas: questão agrária, economia política, marxismo, imperialismo, formação do capitalismo brasileiro e capitalismo periférico Latino-Americano
