Abstract

In this interview, Professor Teresa Matus discusses her professional trajectory and recalls moments of her intellectual development, revisiting the historical contexts and conceptual frameworks of social work in Chile, Latin America, and the world. In her conversation with the interviewer, Teresa Matus describes, within the context of the dictatorship and the transition to democracy, the closure and reopening of the social work program at the University of Chile, and the development of the pedagogical project that aims to align teaching and practice at the undergraduate and graduate levels through the I+D+i Centers - Research - Development - Public Advocacy. As a contemporary protagonist of Chilean social work, the interviewee problematizes concepts that seem hegemonic to her and the different theoretical perspectives that have shaped and continue to shape social work, now a century old in Latin America.

Author Biography

Tânia Regina Kruger, Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina, Docente Titular do Departamento de Serviço Social e do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Serviço Social, Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, Brasil.

Possui graduação em Serviço Social pela Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (1990), mestrado em Educação e Cultura pela Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina (1998) e doutorado em Serviço Social pela Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (2005). Atualmente é docente Associada do departamento de Serviço Social da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. Tem experiência na área de Serviço Social, com ênfase em Serviço Social, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: política social, SUS, serviço social, exercício profissional, política de saúde, participação, controle social, planejamento e gestão de políticas sociais. Integrante do Núcleo de Estudos em Serviço Social e Organização Popular — NESSOP.
