This article highlights the insertion of the multi-professional residence program in the Pain Therapy and Palliative Care Service of the Cancer Institute of Ceará (ICC) between 2012 and 2015. Using critical Marxian thinking, it presents a descriptive and exploratory study, of a qualitative nature, to illuminate the technical-operative dimension of social service in the realm of the ICC. It highlights the importance of the educational dimension in relation to the investigative dimension, focusing on the creative pedagogical processes suitable to the residence model practiced in Brazil and their importance in the field of palliative care.Downloads
