It conducts bibliographic research about the issue, and presents an explanation of the representation of ideas about childhood and youth, violence and of the possible determinants of their insertion in the world of crime. Ideas about violence and "criminality" of youth and children must be demystified to be able to explain the real living conditions of Brazilian youths and children.
