Abstract

This article briefly reports the experiences of a non-profitable philanthropic institution – Irmandade do Divino Espírito Santo (IDES) – located in Florianópolis, capital of Santa Catarina state. Throughout its 228 years of existence, IDES has been focusing on social and community work. However, from the 1990´s on, the organization has undergone a restructuring process, aiming at its sustainability and adaptability so as to ensure continuity of its work in a more efficient and effective way.

Possui graduação pela UFSC (1984), especialização em Serviço Social pela UFSC (1987), especialização em Serviço Social pela UFSC (1992), mestrado em Serviço Social pela PUCRS (1995), doutorado em Engenharia de Produção pela UFSC (2001). Atualmente é da PUCRS e Membro de corpo editorial da Revista Contemporânea de Contabilidade (Florianópolis). Tem experiência na área de Serviço Social.
