City Statute and City Conference: tools for a democratic participative urban policy
Abstract
Lecture delivered at the “II Fórum da Cidade de Florianópolis” (Second Forum of the City of Florianópolis, SC) held on June 5th and 6th, 2003, at the “Assembléia Legislativa de Santa Catarina”. This lecture presents reflections on the situation of the cities, on the need for and importance of popular organization and participation to represent the socio-communitary aspirations before the housing and urban planning policies, developed by the “Secretaria de Programas Urbanos do Ministério das Cidades” ( Urban Program Secretariat of the City Ministry). The first part presents the situation of the cities, the ministerial policies, and then addresses issues raised by the participant public, concluding with comments by the lecturer.Downloads
