Possui graduação em Direito pela UFSM. Especialização em Direito pelas Faculdades Integradas de Santa Cruz do Sul, mestrado em Direito pela UFSC, doutorado em Direito pela UFSC e Pós-Doutora em Direito Penal e Criminologia pela Universidade de Buenos Aires. É Professora concursada da UFSC, atuando em: Doutorado, Mestrado, Especialização e Graduação em Direito, Extensão (Coordenadora do Projeto Universidade sem Muros) e Pesquisa (atua nas linhas de pesquisa Controle social, sistema penal, cidadania e direitos humanos).
