Abstract

With the objective of analyzing how neoliberal ideology is expressed in government policies, this article presents the parliamentary discussions that gave origin to the reform of the social security system that took place in Argentina in the 1990s. It analyzes the political objectives expressed in the discourses of legislators, as pronounced in parliamentary debates and in texts of proposed laws. The methodological approach involved the use of qualitative document analysis techniques, using constitutive categories of neoliberal thinking: liberty, self-effort, equity, solidarity and efficiency.
