CALL FOR PAPERS - KATÁLYSIS JOURNAL

The Katálysis Journal, edited by the Post-Graduate Program in Social Work and the Graduate Course in Social Work at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, is a periodical A1 graded by the Qualis/Capes ranking. The journal aims to publish current and relevant scientific productions related to social work, covering themes from applied social sciences, social sciences, humanities, social policy, labor, the social question, and public health. Each issue focuses on a thematic unit, given its importance in the contemporary social context, but includes a special place for free topics.

Volume 26, N. 1, 2023 – Health crisis, territories, and poverty

Summary: This call intends to compile works that address and question the themes of health crisis, territories, and poverty. Specifically, it seeks studies focused on: the capitalist offensive, the health crisis, and inequality during the battle against the pandemic. Counter-reforms and social (de)protection in the context of the health crisis. Social inequality and the pandemic. Territorial inequality and the right to the city. Impoverishment and its repercussions in the territories. Denialism, hygienist policies and the impacts on homeless people, the LGBTQIAP+ population, quilombolas, and indigenous people. Debates on period poverty and the principle of comprehensiveness in healthcare. The effects of the pandemic on the right to education and the consequences in the territories.

Submission: from March 1 to June 30, 2022.

Release: Four-month period of January/April 2023.

Volume 26, N. 2, 2023 – Crisis of capital, human rights and class struggle

Summary: This call intends to compile works that address and question the themes of the crisis of capital, human rights, and class struggle. In this direction, the articles presented should address issues related to the nature of the crisis in a society ruled by capital and Marxist political economy. The capitalist crisis, the state, and the class struggle. Social, economic inequalities, and environmental hazards. The contradictions of human rights struggle in Brazil and Latin America. The offensive against labor rights and the challenges to the class organization in the face of the growth of the relative surplus population. The capitalist crisis and the migration flows in the Brazilian and Latin American context. The criminalization of poverty, mass imprisonment, the penal state, the war on drugs, violence, and human rights. The consequences of the capitalist crisis in the Brazilian and Latin American context and its repercussions in Social Work.

Submission: from July 1 to October 31, 2022.

Release: Four-month period of May/August 2023.

Volume 26, N. 3, 2023 - Imperialism, revolution and counter-revolution in Latin America

Summary: This call intends to compile works that address and question the themes of the class struggle in Latin America in the context of imperialism, understanding revolution and counter-revolution as critical historical elements. It encompasses discussions on the issue of super-exploitation and dependence; national sovereignty in Latin America and its dilemmas; questions regarding the policies of criminalization, punitivism, and mass imprisonment of poor, black, indigenous and, mestizo youth as the current stage of the imperialist hybrid war against the peoples of the continent; the advance of imperialist military surveillance over Latin American territory; the expropriation of land and natural resources by large transnational corporations and their impacts on the working class, especially for indigenous and traditional peoples; the struggles of the working class, their strategies of organization and resistance in the Latin American context.

Submission: from November 1, 2022 to February 28, 2023.

Release: Four-month period of September-December 2023.
