Abstract

This text aims to analyse theoretically and methodologically Granovetter’s structural approach in order to evaluate the reaches and limits of the thought of one of the most famous and representative authors of the New Economic Sociology. We come to the conclusion that, in spite of constituting a genuinely sociological analysis of the economic phenomena, in particular due to the (re)elaboration of fundamental concepts as network, embeddedness or economic group, Granovetter’s approach presents a series of limitations, which have to do, among others, with a reflection yet incipient concerning the motivations of the economic actor, a certain conceptual indefinition and a neglect of the wider social context in which networks are embedded. Cecile Helene Jeanne Raud-Mattedi, Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina

possui graduação em Administração de Empresas - Ecole Supérieure Des Sciences Economiques Et Commerciales (1990), mestrado em Sociologia do Desenvolvimento - Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, Paris, França (1991) e doutorado em Sociologia do Desenvolvimento - Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (1996). Possui também pós-doutorado em Sociologia Econômica - Universidade de Paris-Dauphine, França (2003). Atualmente é professora associada I do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Sociologia Política da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. Tem experiência na área de Sociologia, com ênfase em Sociologia Econômica, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: construção social do mercado, Estado e ator econômico; desenvolvimento territorial e políticas públicas. É coordenadora do Núcleo de Estudos Sociológicos dos Mercados.
