Professional education for the deaf : a political politicalpedagogical Technology Education in Santa Catarina

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to analyze disruptions in the trajectory of the Professional Education Center for the Deaf (NEPS) during its first eight years of work from 1992 – 2000 at the Federal Center of Technology Education of Santa Catarina (CEFET/SC), more precisely at the Educational Unit of São José (UNED/SJ). It is based on a historical-institutional case study. An approximation was established between Professional Education through a critical perspective and Deaf Studies in Education, with a point of convergence the power relations in the realm of professional education.
