Travesías/Travesuras: Dis/connecting Cultural Imaginaries

Inspired in feminist and post-colonial theories, this article debates Chicano discursive practices seeking to understand the dialogue between Mexicans and Chicanos as critical positionings against U.S.-Mexican nation-state's exclusionary politics. Specifically, and from a historical narrative, it points to and problematizes the circulation of the Mexican "cultural imaginary”, and the function and influence that Mexican myths and symbols have had once they have crossed the border. Their resignification in Chicana writings is analyzed as constituting decolonizing feminist pratices.Downloads
