Obstetric Violence in Public Maternity Wards of the State of Tocantins

Abstract

This article presents the results of a survey conducted in 14 public maternity wards of the State of Tocantins, where 56 women were interviewed by means of a semi-structured interview. The study aimed to identify women’s perceptions about violence in the obstetric delivery process. The perception of women about obstetric violence appeared to be related to the lack of quality and reception in care, highlighting the occurrence of various expressions of obstetric violence such as neglect, physical, verbal, psychological violence. A breach in important regulations, the non-utilization of recommendations based on scientific evidence and the breach of the main rights of parturient women were found, setting the magnitude of the violence and the need for improving obstetric services.

Mestre em Ciências Ambientais e Saúde, Enfermeira Obstetra com atuação na Área da Mulher e Criança, violências e gênero.

Possui experiência em Atenção à Saúde, formação de profissionais em saúde e pesquisas nessas áreas temáticas.

É membro do Comitê Estadual de Prevenção do Óbito Materno Fetal e Infantil do Tocantins.

Eline Jonas, Pontíficia Universidade Católica de Goiás.

Atualmente é Secretária Executiva da Comissão Nacional de Ética em Pesquisa/CONEP/CNS/Ministério da Saúde, integra o Comitê Científico Internacional da Revista Eletronica Educare/Universidad Nacional en Costa Rica; parecerista da Universidade Estadual de Goiás, consultora ad hoc da PUC de Goiás e da Fundação de Amparo a Pesquisa do Estado de Goiás, Conselho editorial da revista Presença da Mulher. Tem experiência na área de Saúde Coletiva, atuando principalmente em pesquisas, palestras e seminários referentes a políticas públicas, direitos humanos, gênero, saúde da mulher e globalização.

Leila Rute Oliveria Gurgel do Amaral, Universidade Federal do Tocantins

psicóloga, formada pela Universidade Estadual de Londrina (1995), Mestre em Psicologia pela Universidade Estadual Paulista- UNESP (2003), Doutora em Ciências pela Universidade de São Paulo- USP (2008) e Pós-doutora em Psicologia da Educação pela Universidade Estadual Paulista- UNESP (2014). Atualmente é professora adjunta da Universidade Federal do Tocantins - Colegiado de Medicina e do Mestrado Profissional em Ciências da Saúde-UFT. Atua como pesquisadora dos seguintes grupos de pesquisa certificados pelo CNPQ: Desenvolvimento Humano em Situações de Risco Social e Pessoal (UFRGS); Violência e Relações de Gênero(UNESP);Promoção e Educação em Saúde(UFT). Líder do grupo do CNPq intitulado ?Qualidade de vida e Saúde? (UFT). É membro do grupo de trabalho intitulado " Juventude, Resiliência e Vulnerabilidade"da ANPEPP (Associação Nacional de Pesquisa e Pós-graduação em Psicologia. Dedica-se ao estudo das seguintes temáticas: saúde mental, desenvolvimento Humano, resiliência e educação em saúde. Faz parte do grupo de pesquisadores do REDRES Observatório Internacional Rede Resiliência/CNPQ, atuando na linha de pesquisa Resiliência e Cuidado.
