Adoption by same-sex couples in Colombia, a review from Psychoanalysis
DOI:
https://doi.org/10.1590/%25xAbstract
This article presents a bibliographic review of key concepts related to gender, sexual
identity, desire and enjoyment, all from the theoretical constructs offered by psychoanalysis to
understand subjectivity and its relation to the sexual in human beings. The multiplicity of options in this relationship shows that the masculine and feminine is not exclusively of one or the other sex. The article questions the references of the psychiatric manuals and the evolution of their dichotomies about the normal and the pathological in the experience of sexuality to deal with motherhood and paternity, questioning the debates that have been generated about the possibility of adoption by persons of the same sex, and insisting that the symbolic function concerning a child does not always coincide with the biological parents, and that being a father or being a mother is a symbolic construction linked to desire and not to genetics.
