Abstract

This investigation reaffirms the relevance of the gender studies to the understanding of the contemporary historical processes in which women appeared, remained and grew participation in Brazilian sports field between 1960 and 1970. Through the narratives of two black women athletes – Eliane Pereira de Souza e Aída dos Santos –, the multiple intersections of gender with the other components of social differentiation as class, race/ethnics and generation, fundamental for the reconstruction of the experiences that marked their projects, careers, trajectories and memories during the military dictatorship in Brazil are observed.
