This paper aims: a) to examine, briefly, the factors of the Occidental civilization crisis, especially from the XVII and XVIII centuries on, with the emergence and control of modern culture over nature; b) to examine the civil society concept; c) to portray, shortly, the civilization crisis at the end of the XX century adopting an ecopolitical approach; d) to examine the emergence context of the environmentalism and its mainly theoretical approaches. I hold that the solutions for the crisis may be found in a transectorial environmentalism, resulting from experiences that emerge from the multisectorial environmentalism.Downloads
