This paper present some reflections on the complex topic of the "constitution of the subject" derived from studies on the appropiation of a handicraft activity, which is falling into decline. The investigation was focused onthe teacher-student relationship in weaving the Bilro lace, the employed, signifiations, produced and appropriated in the classroom context and the interrelations with the appren tice 's history and the activity itself.
