This is a study about women as inserted into a patriarchal and capitalisticenvironment in which social and psychological elements that work as determinants of lifescope and the way women build female roles as related to their own sexuality — were searched for. Six women, ages between 30 and 42, were interviewed. Their family income lies between
10 to 20 minimum wage units, i.e., US$ 500.00 to 1,000.00 per month; they have a college education. Each has led a rather active sexual life and were enjoyed in a stable relationship with the same partner for at least
two years. Collected data were analysed with methodological procedures designated as Phenomenologically-based Comprehensive Analysis (Nara
Bernardes, 1991). This procedure allowed analysing the female discourses
from which it was made clear that the sexuality of these women was biased through a series of interdict and trespass strategies toward the enjoyment of female orgasm. For some, personal enjoyment of their sexuality became real and for others it is still in the realms of utopia.
