This study tries to test the hypothesis that poetry finds, in a virtual environment, more specifically in a virtual community, a resource of optimizing its potentialities of emancipating reading. The process of reading – of readers in development – can be incremented by the use of digital technology, having in view the attractiveness of this type of support. Thus being, this Project means to develop activities involving the reading of poems, utilizing the web as tool; also proposes a reflection concerning the practices of reading. Up to this point, the research has involved two groups of students, adolescents of the seventh and eight grade of the Dois Irmãos county that utilize the Virtual Environment of Learning as instrument for interaction.
