Call for Dossier – Interfaces between Linguistics and Computing

2024-12-16

In recent years, large language models such as ChatGPT have gained widespread attention in the media, fueling debates about the impact of digital technologies on human life. Within the field of language studies, these discussions can focus on both the potential risks of these tools, such as their role in plagiarism, and their benefits, including support for data analysis and the creation of environments that facilitate linguistic studies.

While these debates are highly topical, it is worth noting that the intersection between linguistics and computation is not new. Various branches of linguistics have been using computational applications for decades, not only to analyze linguistic data but also to address issues related to reading, writing, and teaching. These intersections highlight that the interface between Linguistics, Computation, and Technology remains a promising and relevant area for research.

In this context, we invite researchers from diverse theoretical and methodological perspectives to submit papers that explore the intersections between Linguistics and Computation. Submissions are welcome on (but not limited to) the following topics:
i) the importance of Computational tools for linguistic data analysis;
ii) the use of digital applications to discuss reading and writing practices;
iii) the impact of digital technologies on education, with a particular focus on their contributions and challenges.

Submit your paper and contribute to this interdisciplinary dialogue!

Submission deadline for this edition: 04/15/2025. Guest editor: Roberlei Alves Bertucci - UTFPR
