This article is the result of the ‘Pessoa 3.0’ seminar series organized by Diego Giménez in 2023. The session I was invited to take part in, entitled ‘Fernando Pessoa and Artificial Intelligence’, was dedicated to reflecting on the automation of language and its relationship with poetic creation. This article considers some of these relationships, taking the poetry of Fernando Pessoa and his heteronyms as a reference. Firstly, it seeks to respond to the motto launched by the organizer of this dossier, establishing a context for reflection on the writing of poetry and the automatic generation of text. Secondly, I consider the relevance of mimesis in the automation of symbolic production, as opposed to the concept of "literary algorithm".
