Abstract: Multilinear phonology, through the approach of the geometry of phonological features, provides a singular interpretation to linguistic variation. The phonological component, when focused in a plurilinear way, permits phonemic properties or segments to get co-articulated with elements from the same or other levels. Every phonological process implies different geometric configurations and follows universal principles and particularparameters to each language. The lexical abstract level virtually preserves all the varieties. In the specific case of Portuguese, it is possible to confirm through the dialects of fishermen and “rendeiras” of Florianópolis, the multilinear description of phonological processes observed in the coda position, like assimilation, epenthesis, deletion, metathesis, among others.
