The emergence and the expansion of innovative language uses in the community of practice: the case of {-ste} on the tal qual dublagens page

Abstract

The aim of this study is to analyze, in a synchronic perspective, the emergence and the expansion of new uses of the item {-ste}, in occurrences like Mana, tu arrasaste;  Eu já compreistes o meu fuleira!!!!; Cadeeestes demoniia!?!? e Manaa acho que tey boystes já terminou o serviço!, collected in posts and comments from a social networking site, the Tal Qual Dublagens page in Instagram, which is viewed as a community of practice (ECKERT, 2006). Because the new uses of the target item seem to involve expansion of the contextual base to which {-ste} is added, semantic-pragmatic and categorical expansion, we interpret these new uses as cases of grammaticalization as expansion. The theoretical support for the analysis is based on Traugott (2002, 2008, 2010), Hopper and Traugott (2003) and Heine et al. (1991).

Kamilla Oliveira do Amaral, Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina

É graduada em Licenciatura em Letras Língua Portuguesa pela Universidade do Estado do Amazonas (UEA). Mestra em Linguística pela Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina. Desenvolve pesquisas na área da Sociolinguística Variacionista, com enfoque na documentação e análise de fenômenos na escrita e fala manauara, sobretudo aqueles advindos das interações em sites redes sociais (SRS) e na discussão sobre língua, estilo e identidade. Atuou como bolsista do Programa Institucional de Bolsa de Iniciação à Docência, durante os anos de 2014 a 2016 e participou do Projeto Oficina de Formação em Serviço no mesmo período pela UEA. Atuou em regime de Estágio Docência na Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina na disciplina de Sociolinguística. Participa dos Projetos Fala Manauara Culta e Coloquial (FAMAC), Variação Linguística da Região Sul (VARSUL) e Laboratório de estudos em variação linguística e práticas pedagógicas (LabVAR).
