Physical ergonomics can contribute to gait training performed with institutionalized patients by addressing usability aspects that may optimize the activity. In this regard, patient stabilization through assistive vests can be employed to maintain comfort and safety. Based on this, this paper aims to evaluate the usability and comfort of an assistive gait vest used in the daily work routine of physiotherapists. Concerning methodology, the study is characterized as applied research – with a mixed-methods (qualitative-quantitative) approach and exploratory objectives. Regarding technical procedures, a case study was carried out in a Psychiatric Institute. The instruments used included: observation, photographic and video records, the System Usability Scale (SUS), and Corlett's Body Part Discomfort Map. As a result, the SUS yielded a score (n=65) below the average, indicating usability issues, which were related to the process of fitting the device to the user's body. On the other hand, Corlett's Diagram showed moderate discomfort in the neck area and some discomfort in the thigh region.
