Abstract

From some records and references, this paper presents an overview of
the musical life of the Island of Santa Catarina, Brazil, since colonial times,
passing by Brazilian Empire age and the early twentieth century, until the days of radio, intending to show that the location was always attuned to the
different musical cultures found in different times, taking part of the Brazilian historical-musical global context.
